New Marketing FAQ. The story so far.
A few weeks ago, Philippe Deltenre, working as a media strategist at Microsoft Belgium posted a list of 8 questions. These questions are sort of the most asked questions by traditional advertisers. Philippe distilled these questions out of the many sessions he had doing his job.
I decided to answer this questions as well, on this blog. Kris Hoet did an excellent job sending them to some A-listed marketeers, and it’s trilling to see this new marketing faq is kicking off!
So, to summarize the story so far I’m going to repeat the 8 questions, and link them to my answers.
2- Is online advertising making sense without a decent website?
3- Are there examples of 2.0 initiatives made by traditional brands that went totally out of hand?
4- How can impressions be compared to television GRPs?
5- How intrusive should I be? (expandable formats, videos with sound on by default)
6- What does interaction rate (only available for rich media formats) tell me about the impact of my campaign?
7- Does the long tail change anything to the way I should communicate with my target group?
8- Why on earth do people use sites like second life?
More buzz/answers
Of course you should read all Philippe’s post. After all he initiated everything.
Questions, Q1, Q2, Q3, and a summary of Q1.
Joseph Jaffe gave a shot at Q1 as well.
Mark Goren of Transmission Marketing decided to answer the questions on his blog. So far: Q1 & Q2.
Ann Handley answered the second life question on the Marketing Profs Daily Fix blog
More to come I’m sure!
More plans
I really had a good time answering these questions. I was interested to think about these stuff.
I also sort of forced me to blog more, which is a good thing for minor issues, isn’t it. I decided to start blogging in English by default (I used to mainly blog in Dutch) because I want to join the global conversation. I need to remake my blog one day since navigation and so on is still in Dutch, and I wanna do some new stuff anyway.
I’m thinking about writing an e-book concerning this new marketing faq. Mainly reusing the blog posts, but bundling it nicely together and making it easy to distribute.
An other option can be to create a separate website. We can start with the 8 basic questions, and collect more questions over time. On a (for example) monthly basis a new question can be selected and added to the faq. These question can then be answered by some new marketing professionals. Who’s in?
I’m in!
